Hi, Folks
Been so bummed out lately by all the liberal goingson in DC that I haven’t had the wherewithall to even sit down at the keyboard and type. The United States is being wiped out in front of our eyes and we are helpless to do anything about it.
I probably would not be writing this had it not been for a good customer who e-mailed me and kind of snapped me out of my bummer. I had to e-mail him back with some explanation of my actions and then launched into a small rant about the state of the state and afterwards I liked it so much I jus hadda reprint it for you, at least part of it is below.
“I must be honest with you concerning my current state of mind. The present political situation distresses me terribly, the President and Congress are determined to turn my wonderful US into Cuba. The Country it seems is now progressing toward that end so much faster than at any time in history that I walk around talking to myself. I wake up nights worrying about the future of my family and even my own, short as it probably is. The new taxes, governmental programs, bailouts, takeovers and controls on individuals I am certain will combine to be sure catastrophe for the US. We tripled the money supply with the stimulus package, when that money leaves the bank vaults and our savings assumes 30% of it’s previous worth will be the real knife in the back. *The one trillion dollar estimate over ten years of the cost of the healthcare package which will certainly be approved (** and then provide governmental care for 1/3 of those presently without health insurance) would be hilarious if it weren’t so inherently tragic. Never has there been a political program whose actual cost was even close to the original politician’s estimate, they always exceed it and usually by several times the estimate. The quality of the people in charge of both houses of Congress (no matter the party) is particularly troubling. They apparently have no clue of the consequences of their actions and are instead focused on being re-elected rather than taking care of their constituents.
I have been very lax about keeping the blogs and e-mails going to my faithful customers as I should have and I am blaming that on the state of the Union. I hope you have shocked me back into reality so I deal with those things I have control of instead of being catatonic due to worrying about what I can’t.

* Oops sorry I guess the estimate has already been increased to two trillion over ten years and then increased to “well we just don’t know”, great.
** this of course means that the other 66% will be clamoring for their cut thus increasing the cost by three times what it eventually turns out to be

Poppajohn is just gettin too damn old, he can’t take it anymore.

Saturday in my local paper there was a story about a former soldier P.F.C. Joseph Dwyer

who had volunteered as a medic and participated in the original Iraqui Freedom Campaign and the incredibly successful run up to Baghdad which had been orchestrated by my old classmate T.R. Franks. He had been photographed rescuing an Iraqui child that had been injured by shrapnel and had been treated as the hero that he was although he always deflected that by turning it to the other guys who he said deserved that accolade more. He had a wife and baby daughter he obviously loved very much. Heroism turned to tragedy after the young man returned home suffering from ptsd he could not cope with the images from the combat and imagining the enemy all around him. He simply went downhill until he ended up abusing inhalants until he died alone without his family, no friends, no anything. Terribly tragic and on the front page. We must do something to see to it that our returning heroes do not have something like this happen to them. Not a fitting end for a legitimate hero and such an obviously fine man.

The same day I received an e-mail with the following story about a local hero from Garden Grove, CA.:

This much I knew. PO2 (EOD2) Mike Monsoor, a Navy EOD Technician, was awarded the
Congressional Medal of Honor posthumously for jumping on a grenade in Iraq,
giving his life to save his fellow Seals.

This I did not know. During Mike Monsoor’s funeral in San Diego, as his coffin
was being moved from the hearse to the grave site at Ft. Rosecrans National
Cemetery, forty five of his fellow SEALs were lined up on both sides of the
pallbearers route forming a column of two’s, with the coffin moving up the
center. As Mike’s coffin passed, each SEAL, having removed his SEAL gold
Trident Insignia from his uniform, slapped it down embedding the Trident in the wooden coffin.

The slaps were audible from across the cemetery; by the time the coffin
arrived grave side, it looked as though it had a gold inlay from all the
Tridents pinned to it. This was a fitting send-off for a warrior hero.

This should be front-page news also at least as much as PFC Dwyers’ tragic story.
Since the major portion of the mainstream media won’t make this news, I can at
least blog it. I am proud of our military. I am certain that you are also proud of them.
We can all rest assured that the fine men and women of our military will continue to
serve and die with honor. God bless all the PFC Dwyers and PO2 Monsoors. Where do
we get such men?

Hi, Folks; De Old Effo is back cuz bears are in the news here in California: A woman walking her two dogs in Caliente CA. (Thats a rural town near the mountains and a recent burn area) was attacked and severely injured by a black bear, the reason we know it was a Black bear is cuz back when folks in California did things fer the benefit of the “Human” race the Grizzlies were eliminated for being too likely to eat someone. Bears are sometimes provoked by dogs who get between a mother and her cubs but it doesn’t seem to be the case here. The woman although injured managed to escape the attack and drive herself to a fire station along with her two dogs I guess. One of the dogs was also injured but not seriously they say. The lady was later airlifted to UCLA Medical Center for further treatment.
Folks, Poppajohn has been saying for years don’t camp in, walk in, eat in, drive through, or even be near possible bear habitat without bear spray or a high caliber firearm at hand. Bears are unpredictable, they do what they damn well please and fifty years of watching em be cute and cuddly on World of Disney does not change that. The bear authorities here (i.e. Fish and Game) were trying to track the bear so far without success. Why were they tracking the bear (to kill it) we kill them after they attack a human. Kind of like the police whose job it is to respond to crime not prevent it. Several years ago I moved into what was a very nice condominium development that the developers decided to call Buena Tierra, (more or less translates to “Good Dirt”). I was real happy there no yard work and a pool and spa I didn’t have to take care of. I’d lived there a few years when my next door neighbor moved away and rented out his place to a very attractive young lady. Who in turn was the girlfriend of a fellow who had bought the place about three doors down, she was 22 he was 48, I suspect he was paying her rent. This fellows name was Jimmy Casino (one of the all-time great mafia monikers) and he was the owner of a topless bar called the Mustang Topless Theater. It was apparently the closest thing to a gold mine one could possibly own. Jimmy was a very colorful character as you might imagine, he ran a notorious topless bar but read the Bible to his dancers and implored them to stay away from drugs and prostitution. Jimmy had a thirty year long rap sheet that showed attempted murder, burglary, auto theft, bad checks, counterfeiting and mail fraud. He had a lot of friends and a lot of enemies. He had been living in a major mansion in Anaheim Hills with some of his dancers, he had a Rolls Royce a Mercedes 450 SL and a Chevy Camaro among other cars. For some reason unknown to me but I felt he was trying to lower his profile he moved into Buena Tierra at about a tenth of the price of his mansion. Seems some other folks were interested in being the owners of his club instead of him and told him so but he declined their offer. Turned out to be the wrong move for Jimmy on the night of Jan. 2 1987 as he and my next door neighbor were arriving home at his condo they were greeted by two masked and armed men. The greeters tied up Jimmy down stairs then tied up and raped the girl upstairs. They ransacked the place stealing jewelry, furs, credit cards and two cars. And they shot Jimmy Casino in the back of the head. I tell ya folks the world is a tough place, don’t be in it unprepared, Air Taser M18, Telescopic Stun Baton.
So why am I bringing this up now, cuz they finally caught one of the Mook Perps after more than 21 years. It was such a notorious unsolved murder hereabouts that whenever the local constabulary had some one who wanted to confess to anything they would also ask “did you do Jimmy Casino too?”. A teacher at my son’s high school gets arrested the other day for possession of drugs for sale and a shotgun on school grounds. The local gendarmes got some anonymous tips that he was selling out of his car. The campus police officer comes around tells him about the complaint and asks if he can have a look in his car, the teacher says okay and there the items are all packaged up and ready for sale along with the unloaded shotgun. So he gets booked goes to jail and bails himself out. Then he goes back to see the local cops and says something like “I didn’t do it”. He keeps on saying it till they pay attention and take a closer look. Seems now like his ex and her new boyfriend set him up even made the calls and at this point the cops are having nice long talks with those two. Now the teach is a local hero in spite of the fact we all thought he was toast. I guess it’s true ya just never know, which is why we should carry self protection at all times and I don’t necessarily mean shotguns though I ain’t agin it. Poppajohn again, with another catharsis.

My neighbor (let’s call him William) is a minuteman, every so often he heads down south and camps for 3 or 4 days while observing movement across the border. He’s been threatened by drug runners numerous times who tell him that he’s “****ing wlth their business” while they show him their AK47s. He has been instrumental in the interception of several human drug caravans crossing the border and yes he has been shot at more than once. Bear in mind he’s only there 3 or 4 days a year. The border is clearly out of our control and is guarded and supervised by the drug cartels. Time to tool up.

In northwest Mexico the cartels home turf, they routinely murder government officials and even hang banners mocking the Mexican authorities that are trying to maintain order. In Sinaloa banners calling them in one instance “Little tin soldiers, federal officers made of straw” were hung. Just last week they raised the stakes higher with the murder of the acting National Police Chief Edgar Milan. Time to tool up.

Shur looks like Mexico is about to go the way of Columbia in the 1990s and the problem is moving north. Mexico is the key element in marijuana and cocaine traffic to the US and violent clashes between traffickers often spill over into our territory. More than 1000 Mexicans have died so far this year (and it’s only May Iraq is safer) in killings related to organized crime but the brutal truth shows in the routine killing of Mexican officials, a top commander was murdered last Saturday in Cuidad Juarez a week earlier a federal intelligence officer in Mexico City. This week the US Congress is voting on the Merida Initiative a $550 Mil anti-crime aid package for Mexico. While this sounds like a lot, I’m thinkin the drug traffic makes that much in a week. Folks there is real trouble comin. Time to tool up!

Had an exchange of e-mails with an old customer (Billy F.) today about oil prices which turned out to be so interesting I thought I would share with everyone. Started with a rhetorical question “What is the real reason that we don’t have enough gasoline?” and the answer “I reckon there is plenty but the capitalists are holding it back to drive up the prices and make as much as they can off the backs of those who need it to survive… what say you?
Well here’s the answers plus a bit more that ocurred to me after talking with Billy:
So everyone’s worried about the price of gasoline including yours truly Poppajohn. How did we get in this shape and what can we do about it. Back in the 50s and 60s we had plenty of oil and gas (Iknow I was there) we could drive all day and night and still pay less than you’d pay for a cup of coffee.
Incidentally have you figured out the price of brewed coffee by the gallon lately, lessee at Starbucks’ prices one Vente (that’s a big one I think) of plain coffee runs $1.95 at my local Starbucks and it’s 20 ounces. Okay one gallon is 128 ounces 20 into 128 = 6.4 then $1.95 X 6.4 = $12.48 per gallon of coffee, hmmm ya still have to add cream and sugar.
Sorry looks like my ADD kicked in again.
So what happened to the price of gas since the 60s? Well lemme see. American gas companies have not been able to drill and produce in the US since the 60s or 70s. That was in Alaska. They have not been allowed to build new refineries here either so even if we could produce domestic oil we cannot refine it here in quantity. American oil companies are forced by us to look elsewhere for their supply. We get most of our imported oil from Canadian oil companies then comes Mexico. Both of whom are drilling and producing new oil from the gulf of Mexico. Not the US we can’t drill there even though everyone else in the world including the Chinese are already exploiting new oil sources there. We have a major source of new oil in the Alaskan Wildlife Refuge, we could slant drill at just a few sites with no impact to the environment but we would impact our domestic supply of oil very favorably (I don’t care what Chuck Schumer says), nope can’t do it. Fantastic new find at great depth in N. Dakota enough to fuel the US for many decades, 10 to 1 we never produce it or even drill for it and if we did we would be forced to refine it somewhere else. We are not serious about ending the domestic oil crisis due to the fact we are allowing a few crazy people who think they are “protecting the Earth” to have too great an influence over both the legislative and executive branches of government. This is true only because our news sources do not tell us anything except the “green” line which if you actually listen to it is the greatest example of BS the world has ever seen, (or heard as it were). So we end up forcing our energy companies to go to Opec for our oil and gas and pay market prices which are forced up both by Opec strangulation and speculation on oil futures. They have been forced to build far flung operations, huge fleets, Ports, overseas refineries and giant management teams. Then we give them an incredibly hard time when they are able to do so profitably and actually have a presidential candidate who campaigns on the premise of “I wanna take those profits”. In the last few years there has been a large push by the green folks to force us into methanol use. Now since so much of our food production has been diverted to energy our food prices are going out the roof. So presently we have much higher food prices with travel almost prohibitively expensive and they won’t even allow us to build a lousy nuclear fueled plant because they are so bad even though the entire third world is bringing them on line daily. Oil consumption by China and India is at record levels and increasing exponentially but our consumption must be reduced. Why because we have denied ourselves the only source of energy available now or in anyone’s foreseeable future. I mean that sincerely folks, there is nothing not solar, wind, geothermal, ocean waves or all of it put together that shows any promise of impacting our energy needs enough to matter for the next hundred years. Our following of the Kyoto accord will render the US impotent and helpless in the world marketplace but we are told we must follow it because “it’s the right thing to do for the Earth”. Just let me say this about that, We have no power to affect the Earth period. We have tried to affect the weather and we can’t. We have tried to make deserts bloom and we can until someone wants their water back (ie: northern California) and guess what Southern California has a water crisis we will never get over because we now have a population that cannot be sustained with the amount of water available to us from all possible sources put together.
All of our scratchings and buildings across the surface of the planet (including the Hoover Dam) will utterly disappear during the next Ice Age. Yes they are destructive and Ice ages have been coming and going at predictable intervals for the last three and a half million years. We know this because we are able to produce a history of them via the Greenland and Antarctica ice cores. The ice ages last about 100 to 110 thousand years and the inter glacial periods last about 10 to 12 thousand years. The interglacial we are presently in is about 12 thousand years old and includes all of recorded history even though Homo Sapiens has been around much longer, hmm. In other words we are on the precipice of a disastrous new ice age and denying ourselves the commodity that might be able to keep us warm for a few years of it. So what do we have now, a great recipe for domestic chaos brought on by sheer stupidity and we eat it up with a spoon.
I say folks if you presently don’t have personal protection items you need to get “tooled up”. Personal Security 4U Anyhow, that’s what I think.

Hi, All; Poppajohn here again. Sorry to bother but I just had to write about this. The gunman who showed up at the New Life Church to kill as many people as possible was stopped by a single female security guard who fired at him five times hitting him four times and causing him to deliver the coup de gras to himself with the AK 47 he was reported to be using. I think it’s safe to say most folks don’t carry a firearm to church even if permitted so it’s very fortunate this church was far sighted enough to have church members who are also security personnel for the church. Without the intervention the loss of life would surely have been in double digits at least.
Ya can’t get away from the crazies folks they’re out there everywhere.
